BOTOX® Cosmetic is indicated for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. Filler implantation is a simple, non-surgical technique used for smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles. It can also assist with the improvement of acne scaring, crows feet around the eyes, frown lines on the forehead and fine lines on the lip area. To understand the benefits of filler implantation it is important to understand the makeup of the skin, and why it becomes lined and wrinkled. The skin is made up of several layers. The inner layer (Dermis) is composed of a network of fibers called collagen and elastin. After the teenage years these fibers begin to break down. The skin then loses its support system in varying degrees and the lines and wrinkles become a permanent feature. Other contributing factors are caused by diet, stress, over exposure to sunlight, frequent squinting and smoking (which affects the area around the mouth the most).
